Klaus Fuchs was born in Russels- heim, Germany. He also fled the Nazis due to his Communist associations, eventually making his way to England. There he completed his doctorate in Physics at Bristol University in 1939. He became a British citizen in 1942.
Fuchs went to America as part of the British team to work on the atomic bomb. He later worked in the theoretical division at Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project, and had access to a wealth of top secret material, much of which he passed to the Russians.
